Your eye exam is much more than a simple vision check-up.

At Pazur Eyecare, we provide comprehensive eye exams for patients of all ages. During your visit, we will perform a variety of tests and procedures to evaluate the health and function of your visual system. The latest diagnostic and imagining technologies will be utilized during your exam for accurate assessment and diagnosis.

Diseases such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and cataracts are silent and their early detection is important to prevent vision loss. The results of your exam will be discussed with you and your doctor will advise you on vision correction, treatment and preventative options.

Pro-Tip:

See your world clearly and comfortably and maintain this for a lifetime with regular eye examinations.

Children’s Eye Examinations

A healthy and efficient visual system is critical for the normal development of children.

As a child grows and develops, so does their optical system. And since children do not have a frame of reference as to what they should and shouldn’t see, they need to be seen by their optometrist by age four.

Infants learn to see just like learning to walk and talk. Co-ordinated eye movements, colour vision, depth perception and the ability to follow things within several feet will develop around six months of age. Wellness eye exams at this age may be advised by your pediatrician or optometrist if there is an issue of concern.

Children are ready for their first eye examination at age three. We have various kid-friendly tests that we use, so no need to worry that your child is too young to read an eye chart.

Pediatric Myopia Prevention

Also referred to as nearsightedness, myopia is a visual condition whereby near objects are seen clearly but distant objects don’t come properly into focus.

It’s a very common condition that begins in childhood and continues to progress to the age of 20. A comprehensive eye exam is one way to detect early signs of myopia.

FAQs

When should you see your optometrist?

Our eyes change as we age. As such, adults aged 19 to 64 should have a regular eye exam at least every two years. Meanwhile, it is recommended that adults aged 65+ have an exam once a year. Individuals with diabetes should have an exam once a year. Of course, other conditions assessed by your optometrist may warrant more frequent eye exams.

Are eye drops used during the examination?

Eye drops that dilate your pupils to allow us to examine your internal eye structures are routinely used in our practice. These eye drops can cause increased sensitivity to sunlight for one to two hours. Be sure to bring your sunglasses with you just in case we need to dilate your pupils.

Am I a candidate for LASIK eye surgery?

We have helped thousands of patients make the decision to have corrective laser eye surgery. We work very closely with local LASIK surgical centres to provide you with a safe alternative to eyeglasses and contact lenses.
